Why does Nomni POS for Android say "Order total was updated" when I take a payment?

What the message means and how to finish the payment

Quick answer: Nomni POS checks the order total against the items before a payment starts. If they don't match, it corrects the total and shows "Order total was updated. Please review the total and try the payment again." Check the new total, then tap the payment type again to take the payment.

This article is for staff using Nomni POS for Android 2.3.33 or later.

Why does this message show?

Rarely, the order total can fall out of step with the items on the order, for example when an item is added from search while a variant screen is still open, or when matching items are combined into one line. Before 2.3.33 this could mean the customer paid less than the items cost. Now the POS fixes the total first and stops the payment, so you can check the amount before charging.

How do I finish the payment?

  1. Read the message and tap to close it.

  2. Check the order: every item is listed and the total matches what you expect.

  3. Tap the payment type again, for example Card or Cash, and take the payment as usual.

What you should see: the payment starts with the corrected total and the receipt shows the same amount.

What if the message keeps showing?

  1. Check the POS shows version 2.3.33 or later on Welcome Back.

  2. Remove the last item you added and add it again.

  3. If it still shows, hold the order and message us with the order number, the items and the time.
