How do I sync Unsynced Orders?

How to identify whether there are unsynced orders, and how to sync them

Written by Kevin Cheav

Quick answer: Check the iPad is connected to the internet. Tap the unsynced orders button in the top bar. It shows how many orders are waiting. Then follow the steps below.

When there are unsynced orders, you will see this Unsynced Orders icon in the top left corner of either your Master or Slave POS.

In the red circle is the number of orders which are not synced.

If you see this alert on...

A Slave

The Master

This means that...

The Slave has orders which are not sent to the Master—reporting discrepancies will occur

The Master has orders which are not yet synced to the backend

So you should...

Sync when possible

Tap the Unsynced Orders button to bring up a list that summarises how many orders are not synced for each date. When you have restored your network or internet connection press Sync.

You will also encounter this popup if you try to close the POS register with unsynced orders.

The icon will disappear when orders are synced again.

Master and Slave iPads: what "unsynced" means

  • Only the Master POS sends orders to Nomni. A Slave sends its orders to the Master.

  • On a Slave, 0 unsynced means the Master has received the orders. Check the Master to see if they have reached Nomni.

  • The Master needs internet to send orders to Nomni. The sync button also needs internet on a Slave, even when the Slave can reach the Master.

How to sync unsynced orders

  1. Check the iPad is connected to the internet.

  2. Tap the unsynced orders button in the top bar. It shows how many orders are waiting.

  3. Wait for the count to go down to 0. Leave the app open.

  4. If the count doesn't change, go to Order History and tap the sync button. This also sends orders older than 3 months, which the automatic sync skips.

What you should see: the unsynced count goes to 0 on the Master, and the orders appear in Nomni Console reports.

If something goes wrong

"You have N unsynced order(s)" when closing the register

"Reports will not match if the orders are not synced." Sync the orders first, then close the register, so your register report matches Nomni Console.

"Unable to switch to Slave mode"

"There are unsynced orders in the system." A Master can't become a Slave until its orders are synced. Sync them first.

The count stays above 0

Restart Nomni POS on the Master and try again. If it still won't go down, don't delete the app. Contact us with the venue name and the number of orders shown.
