Quick answer: SMS is an optional add-on. Contact us to add it to your account. Your first messages may be checked before they go out, which can take up to two business days, and you need specific SMS consent before you text anyone.
SMS is an optional add-on to your Nomni Marketing account. It's great for short, time-sensitive messages such as same-day offers, reward reminders and booking reminders.
Turn it on
Contact us to add SMS to your account. We'll confirm pricing and how sending works for your account. Your first few messages may be checked before they go out, which can take up to two business days, so set SMS up well before you need it.
Consent comes first
Text messages need specific SMS consent. Permission to email isn't permission to text.
In Australia, the Spam Act requires that every marketing message: 1. is sent with consent, 2. clearly identifies who it's from, and 3. includes an easy way to unsubscribe.
Good practice when collecting SMS consent (for example on a form): - Use a separate, unticked checkbox for SMS. - Say who's sending and what kind of messages to expect, for example "Weekly offers from Nomni Café". - Say how often you'll text, and that message rates may apply. - Say how to opt out ("Reply STOP to opt out"). - Link to your privacy policy. - Keep a record of when and how each person agreed.
Forms that subscribe people to an SMS list ask them to confirm by text before they become active.
Customers who sync from Nomni POS haven't automatically given SMS consent. Only text them if you've collected SMS permission another way.
Opt-outs
Recipients can opt out by replying with a single word such as STOP, CANCEL, END, QUIT, STOPALL or UNSUBSCRIBE. If your message doesn't already include opt-out wording, "Reply STOP to opt out" is added automatically from time to time. Opted-out numbers won't receive more SMS from your account.
Send an SMS
In an automation: add the Send an SMS action, for example "your reward is ready" after a points change, or a reminder the day before a booking.
As a one-off broadcast: whether this is available depends on your account. Contact us if you'd like to send SMS broadcasts.
Write good SMS
Start with your venue name and get to the point: "Nomni Café: 2-for-1 coffees today until 11am. Show this text. Reply STOP to opt out."
Keep it under 160 characters. Longer messages count as more than one message.
Avoid emojis and special characters if you want to keep to one message, because they reduce how many characters fit.
Send at sensible local times, not early morning or late at night.
Use full international numbers. Phone numbers need the country code, for example
+61412345678. Numbers synced from Nomni POS use the number on the customer profile, so check they're entered in full.
Credits and billing
SMS is charged separately from email. Contact us to check your balance, top up or change your SMS plan.

Put a sign-up form on your website
Follow these steps:
Open the form and click Integrate.
Choose how to publish it: - Simple embed: a short code snippet that always shows the latest version of the form. Paste it into your website builder's "code" or "embed" block (Squarespace, Wix and WordPress all have one). You can also paste the Simple embed into a code block in Nomni App and Studio if you want the form on a page in your venue app. - Full embed: the full form code, if your web developer wants to restyle it. - Link: a hosted page you can share in social bios, emails or turn into a QR code.
Publish your website page and test the form with your own email.
