Quick answer: Customers opt in by ticking an unticked checkbox when they join. Their name, email and phone reach Nomni Marketing with a Consent field set to True or False. Only send marketing to contacts whose Consent is True.
If your venue uses a Nomni ordering or loyalty app, customers can opt in to your marketing when they sign up, join your loyalty program or complete their profile.
What customers see
When joining, customers see a checkbox like this:
Send me {your venue} offers and news Members-only promotions, personalised offers and early access to new menu items. Your name, email and phone will be shared with {your venue} for marketing. Unsubscribe anytime.
The box is unticked by default. The customer has to tick it to opt in. The question is only asked of customers who haven't already answered it for your venue.
What reaches Nomni Marketing
When a customer answers, their name, email and phone go to your Nomni Marketing account with a Consent field:
Customer's answer | Consent field |
Ticked the box (opted in) |
|
Didn't tick the box |
|
Things to know: - Customers who don't opt in can still appear as contacts, with Consent set to False. Don't send them marketing. - App consent contacts are matched by email. If the customer is already a contact (for example from Nomni POS), their Consent field is updated on the same contact. - App opt-ins aren't automatically added to a list. Build a segment on the Consent field (below), or add opted-in customers to a list with an automation. - Customers can unsubscribe at any time with the link in any email.
Use consent in your segments and automations
Segment: Consent is
True. Use it for campaigns aimed at people who opted in through your app.Exclude: add Consent is not
Falseto campaigns sent to app customers.Automation: start a welcome journey when the Consent field changes to
True.
Turning it on
Consent sharing is set up by Nomni when your account is connected. If you have a venue app and opt-ins aren't arriving, or customers see the question every time they open the app, contact us. Usually the connection needs a small fix on our side.
