How to edit a template's text layout in Nomni App and Studio

Type over the words in a template's text layout, copy or remove lines, use the fuller formatting bar, or edit the HTML.

Quick answer: Click the text in Studio and type over the words. The layout stays locked. To see the code, open the text item's ⋯ menu and choose Edit HTML.

What this is for

Some templates use laid-out text, like a menu board with dishes and prices. Studio now shows it as it looks, so you can change the words without breaking the layout.

Change the words

  1. Open your page in Nomni App and Studio.

  2. In Studio, click the text you want to change. A formatting bar shows above it.

  3. Click a word in the layout and type over it.

  4. To add or remove a repeated line, such as a dish, use Copy this line or Remove this line.

  5. Click Publish.

What you should see: Your new words in the same layout in the preview.

Format your text

The formatting bar has Text style (including Heading and Small print), Bold, Italic, Underline, Strikethrough, Colour (your Brand colours or a Custom colour), Alignment, Bullet list, Numbered list, Link and Insert. Insert adds a ready-made layout, such as Menu list, Dishes and prices, Heading with a tag, Words on the left and right or a Divider line.

Edit the HTML

  1. On the text item, open the ⋯ menu.

  2. Choose Edit HTML.

  3. Make your change, then check the preview and click Publish.

What if it doesn't work?

  • I can't type in part of the layout. Only the words are editable. Use Edit HTML to change the layout itself.

  • A script or embed I added doesn't run. Code that runs scripts or loads other pages is blocked on your page for safety. Maps, videos, links and styles still work.
